KSSSA 2025 Champions Crowned, Eyes on FEASSA 2025

The 2025 Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) national basketball championships wrapped up with thrilling action and unforgettable moments. Defending champions held their ground while rising stars made headlines, all setting the stage for what’s next at the regional FEASSA games.

In the girls’ category, Butere Girls from Kakamega County proved once again why they’re a force to be reckoned with. With a commanding 76 – 53 win over Kaya Tiwi (Coast), they claimed their third straight national title. From smooth passes to strong finishes, Butere’s teamwork and consistency were on full display — cementing their place as a modern basketball dynasty.

On the boys’ court, it was a battle to the wire as Laiser Hill Academy (Rift Valley) edged out defending champions Dr Aggrey School (Coast) in a heart-stopping 71-69 final. This win marks Laiser Hill’s third national title, reigniting memories of their glory days in 2006 and 2019.

The bronze medal matches were just as intense. Dagoretti High School (Nairobi) narrowly beat Lukenya School (Eastern) 72-69 in one of the tournament’s tightest games. For Lukenya, reaching the semifinals in only their third nationals appearance was a historic achievement.
